Quarterra Multifamily Named to EPA ENERGY STAR Certification Nation

10 Quarterra communities earn 2022 ENERGY STAR certifications

Quarterra today announced its membership to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR Certification Nation.

Launched in 1992, ENERGY STAR is a voluntary EPA program that delivers environmental benefits and financial value through superior energy efficiency. To earn the ENERGY STAR, a commercial building or industrial plant must be independently verified to operate more efficiently than 75% of similar properties nationwide. Quarterra achieved member status by earning ENERGY STAR certifications at 10 communities in 2022.

Five Quarterra communities earned perfect 100 2022 ENERGY STAR certification scores:

  • Odin, in Minneapolis

Other communities achieving 2022 ENERGY STAR status include:

  • Axle (97), in Seattle
  • Onyx (95), in Edina, Minn.

Eight of Quarterra’s 2022 ENERGY STAR communities also earned recognition in 2021.

“Quarterra is committed to limiting the environmental footprint of our communities, and our membership among the EPA’s Certification Nation shows the collective success of that initiative,” said Jeff McCall, Quarterra's Chief Operating Officer. “Through our continued emphasis on developmental and operational efficiencies, we hope to increase our count of ENERGY STAR certified communities and maintain our position as a responsible industry leader.”

ENERGY STAR certified buildings use an average of 35% less energy and are responsible for 35% less carbon dioxide emissions than typical buildings. Thousands of property managers use ENERGY STAR tools and resources to help them assess their energy performance, improve their efficiency and earn recognition. The Certification Nation was formed this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ENERGY STAR.
