#GivingFeelsGood LMC and Habitat for Humanity

In the past, LMC has participated alongside Lennar in philanthropic events. Our LMC’s focus on philanthropy as a company across the country started with our campaign LMC Cares #GivingFeelsGood. We encouraged our teams to continue whatever charitable events/activities they already participate in locally, but we urged all of our Associates to coordinate and participate in Habitat for Humanity events as well.

LMC supports Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our goal is to raise funds, build teams, and participate in home builds across the country to support this vision. We had three teams participate in three different builds across the country.

Over 60 LMC Associates, nearly 15% of our Associate population, with representation from all departments including Development, Construction, Property Management, Operations, Accounting, Investments, and HR from our major regional offices in Dallas, TX, Aliso Viejo, CA, and Charlotte, NC participated!

“In Charlotte, we jumped at the chance to put on some jeans and boots to get down and dirty and build something. Our task was to erect the roof trusses. Our group was comprised of 3 men and 14 powerfully strong ladies. It was probably the hardest job that we could have been given but nonetheless we did it. We laughed, groaned, and some moaned (most of us), got rained on, sweat a few pounds off and got completely fifthly. With all that said, it was a very rewarding day and to see what we all accomplished TOGETHER was astounding. We all definitely pushed beyond our limits but to know that we helped build a part of this new home for a deserving family, is priceless.”

“Twenty-three Dallas Associates participated with Habitat for Humanity volunteers and site supervisors to rough frame a two bedroom home in West Dallas. One site supervisor had been directly impacted by Dallas’s Habitat for Humanity as the organization had built her mother’s home and her own home. This was a unique and wonderful opportunity for LMC to hear first-hand how the work of Habitat for Humanity had provided a home, work opportunities, and taught financial management to this family. We worked with the local community for the benefit of the local community, and honestly had a great time doing it.”

“The Aliso Viejo Crew (Team OC) came out in full force to help out on a six home development in Santa Ana, CA. Our fifteen volunteers had pneumatic tools roaring around the job site as we installed wood backing, nailed down shear panels, painted beams and clean up prep work. Working closely with the onsite superintendent, we were reading plans and inspection reports, and developing plans to make these homes ready for the upcoming framing inspections. The team build day was filled with hard work. Everyone was covered head-to-toe in sawdust, paint and sweat. There was no greater rewarding feeling than looking around at all the tired and dirty “office” associates knowing we had made a small, but very important contribution to families that need it the most.”

It doesn’t matter if you rent, own, or build it yourself – you will call it home. We had the pleasure of helping someone find “homes” across the country. There is really no better feeling than working as a team to build something tangible for those in need, and contributing to the broader community where we live and work.
