Associate Spotlight: John Cevallos, On-Site IT Service Technician

When tech has you down, who you gonna call? If technology troubles surface in the Western region, Quarterra teams have John Cevallos on speed dial. In his role as On-Site IT Service Technician, John is a professional troubleshooter who thrives on keeping Quarterra communities, division offices and development teams up and running. This Cypress, Calif. native enjoys putting technology to work to solve problems and make the lives of fellow Quarterra associates easier.

What is your official title and job description?
My official title is On-Site IT Service Technician and I support the division offices, communities, and construction teams for the Western region, which includes California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Many things come to mind, but immediately, I simply enjoy helping others. I understand the importance technology plays in our overall performance as a company. I thrive on being part of the problem-solving process being able to provide solutions. I also love visiting our communities and appreciate the differences between them all. It truly shows how much thought goes into each development and how Quarterra strives to incorporate the culture of each region.

What's your favorite Quarterra Core Value?

This one is easy, “Help People.” I pride myself on helping our associates with the understanding that technology can be tricky at times. Our job is to make our technology work for our associates and teams and help us to overcome challenges. Sometimes, even a simple conversation can go a long way and hearing the joy it brings someone when a problem is resolved makes it all worth it.

What are you most looking forward to in Quarterra's future?
I’m excited and proud to see Quarterra grow and thrive. The opportunities are endless as far as what we can achieve, and I’m excited to grow along in my own career alongside Quarterra.

Bio/Quarterra Accolades:
I was born and raised in Cypress, Calif., and currently reside in Irvine near our Aliso Viejo division office. I attended California State University of Fullerton, where I studied business administration, and I have been a licensed real estate salesperson since 2018. Prior to joining Quarterra, I worked for Best Buy and was a “Double Agent” for Geek Squad where I would assist clients with their technology needs at home. I then joined Lennar as an IT Service Desk Technician, where I helped associates troubleshoot remotely. I then transitioned into Quarterra and my current role and have thoroughly enjoyed my time supporting our Quarterra family.

Where is the coolest place you’ve traveled and why?
The coolest place I have visited was Times Square in New York City. I was there visiting a friend and while touring the city, I asked my friend to take a picture of me in the crosswalk (not the smartest idea, lol). I was, inevitably, honked at by oncoming traffic, but you can see all the car lights mid-intersection which just adds to the coolness of the photo.
