Associate Spotlight: Harold Penaloza - General Manager

Quarterra associates based in Florida may be familiar with Palmera and Vesada General Manager Harold Penaloza, but not many know the unique, international journey that brought him to Quarterra. Harold’s career path has been distinct and inspiring, and he’s only getting started.

Let’s learn more about his Quarterra experience and his energizing outlook on company culture.

What is your official title and job description?

I am the General Manager at Palmera and Vesada, which combined include 809 apartment homes in Doral, Florida.

What is your Quarterra story (how did you land at Quarterra)?

I started with Quarterra as a leasing professional back in 2017, at Boca City Walk with the amazing Amber Budney, who is now VP. I left and came back in 2018 as an assistant manager at The Whitney, in Fort Lauderdale. In 2020, when Covid-19 started, I had the opportunity to become a community manager at Palmera, where we dealt with adversity but completed and stabilized my first lease-up. In February 2021, I was promoted to general manager and had the opportunity to work on another lease-up, this time at Vesada. We broke records with President’s Club and our stabilization time period.

Tell us your favorite thing about working at Quarterra?

The culture. We have amazing leaders who are great examples. One big inspiration to me is my VP, Amber Budney.

What's your favorite Quarterra Core Value?

Leadership. I know we have the best leaders in the industry, and they’re always available to help and guide you, which is very important.

What are you most looking forward to in Quarterra’s future?

The amazing opportunities for personal growth, knowing that new communities are being added to our portfolio. I can see myself as a future Quarterra regional director.

Bio/Quarterra Accolades:

I was born and raised in Lima, Peru and arrived in the USA in 1998, very excited, motivated and looking for the American dream. One of my first jobs was in construction; then I had the opportunity to start a new career as a loan officer, which only lasted until the housing market crash. My best friend introduced me to property management in 2006 and that’s when I knew this career path was for me. I was lucky enough to meet amazing leaders. In 2017, I was able to join Quarterra and believe it has been the best decision I’ve made. I’m blessed to be part of this amazing company.
