Associate Spotlight: Grace Brink - Senior Associate, Investments
We all love perusing through the inspiring images of completed Quarterra communities, but those developments would never get off the ground without the funding to make them happen. Our investments team and Senior Associate Grace Brinks play a huge role in making the vision for each of our communities a reality. But how much do we know about what Grace and her team do behind the scenes?
Let’s take a minute to learn a little more about Grace and how she and her team are breathing life into Quarterra communities.
What is your official title and job description?
I am a senior associate on the investments team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Our team helps source the capital to build our communities from both merchant and fund perspectives. Once these ventures are closed, we help maintain strong relationships with our capital partners through monthly investor reporting and fund/portfolio management. We also aid development teams in bringing their pipeline deals through our internal investment committee approval process.
What is your Quarterra story (how did you land at Quarterra)?
I met Christina Langrall, a managing director on our team, when I was in college and kept in contact with her once I moved to Charlotte. About two and half years ago, Christina reached out about a position on the investments team that sounded interesting. I was lucky that I already knew some of my other future teammates as well, so I had a feeling it would be a good fit!
Tell us your favorite thing about working at Quarterra?
My team. The guys I work with are some of the hardest-working people I’ve ever met. Everyone pulls their weight (and then some) and wants to deliver the best possible work product every time. It’s truly a team effort.
What's your favorite Quarterra Core Value?
My favorite Quarterra Core Value is Collaboration. On a day-to-day basis, I experience collaboration in action with my team’s can-do attitude and their eagerness to lend a hand wherever necessary. From a broader perspective, I enjoy collaborating with our development teams to help them solve problems and provide insight from the investment side of the house.
What are you most looking forward to in Quarterra’s future?
I’m excited to see how we turn the corner out of the current economic slowdown. Our company was built out of the Great Recession, which gives me the confidence that we can strategically position ourselves to capitalize on new opportunities that arise as the capital markets open back up.
Bio/Quarterra Accolades:
I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and moved to Greenville, South Carolina to attend Furman University. After graduation, I moved to Charlotte to take a job with a commercial mortgage banking firm where I helped to source and underwrite Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans for conventional and student housing apartments, as well as senior housing facilities. When Christina contacted me about the investments job at Quarterra, I jumped at the opportunity to get on the principal side of the business. I’m coming up on two and a half years with Quarterra and am very happy I made the move!
