A Guide to Living at Octave in Berry Hill
Berry Hill, located south of the Eighth Avenue South area, is a funky Nashville neighborhood that we have been loving lately. Berry Hill is actually its own city, however, it is referred to as a Nashville neighborhood. The area is very unique, with tons of small businesses, recording studios, shops, restaurants, and parks. With over 400 businesses in Berry Hill, all of your needs will be met in this quaint Nashville neighborhood.
WHAT TO DO:
The Escape Game, located in Berry Hill, is an interactive game designed for teams to work together to escape from a situation room. Groups have one hour to crack clues and solve several puzzles together in order to escape the game. With seven different games to choose from, any group can find one that they will enjoy. Depending on the chosen game, teams can vary in size from two to twelve players. The Escape Game Nashville suggests booking your game in advance online in order to get your first choice.
The Sulter Saloon is the best spot in Berry Hill to listen to live music. With live shows nearly every night, the Sutler is always a fun place to stop by, grab a bite to eat, and listen to the wide variety of musical talent in Berry Hill. This venue opened its doors in 1976 and has hosted several major music icons: Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, and Johnny Cash, just to name a few. The Sutler was reimaged in 2014 and since then has had Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, and several other current country stars perform on its stage. Any music lover must check this scene out when in the Berry Hill neighborhood.
WHERE TO DINE:
COFFEE AND BREAKFAST
Sam and Zoe’s is a locally owned coffee shop that opened its doors in 1998 and has been a Berry Hill favorite ever since. It is the second oldest Nashville coffee shop, and they pride themselves on only serving local and fresh goods. In addition to their locally brewed coffee, Sam and Zoe’s serves breakfast and lunch as well. The menu consists of bagels, salads, sandwiches, and wraps, all of which are delicious. A drive through pick up window is available, as long as you place your orders ahead of time.
LUNCH
Eat a local and delicious lunch at Baja Burrito, a locally and independently owned Berry Hill favorite. Baja Burrito is known for using fresh ingredients to create affordable, delicious, and massive burritos. While their specialty is burritos, you will also find tacos and taco salad on their menu – these are just as delicious too! The employees are friendly, the prices are right, and the service is quick, making for the perfect on the go or dine-in lunch spot.
DINNER
Eat as the Tennessee locals do at Monell’s– southern comfort foods that will leave you feeling very full and very satisfied. The menu changes daily, and all items are served family style. Pot roast, cheese grits, corn bread, and skillet-fried chicken are some of the fan favorites at Monell’s. The owners act as friends, and the experience is always enjoyable when dining here.
