Associate Spotlight: Alice Ford, Senior HR Generalist

After building a 10-year career in nonprofit arts, Alice Ford was ready to try something new and was eager to experience other facets of the professional world.

Alice joined the LMC team in Dec. 2016 as a Human Resources Coordinator and was soon promoted to HR Generalist. She currently serves as LMC's Senior HR Generalist. To date, she has been able to help 530 new associates begin their careers with LMC.

Alice, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech, Master of Arts degree from Colorado-based Regis University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from North Texas, recently took the time for a quick Q & A.

What is your official title and job description?

As an HR Generalist for LMC, I assist with the associate experience, payroll, benefits, workday and onboarding of new associates – just to name a few. I always tell people that I’m the “one-stop shop” if you have questions. If I can’t solve your issue, I definitely know who to send you to!

What is your favorite part of the job you do?

The people! I love that I have an opportunity to chat with every new associate through new-hire orientation and get to meet so many of our teams across the country. I enjoy being able to help teams and individuals solve problems, and I have always loved supporting our associates so they can truly shine in their roles.

I believe that when I can help associates solve problems, our teams can spend their time and energy creating the beautiful communities and exceptional living experience that LMC is so well known for.

What’s your biggest surprised-to-find-out moment in property management?

As simple as it sounds, I didn’t realize how many people were involved to create a successful community and an exceptional resident experience. When you look at how many people at LMC are involved in the successes at a single community – it is amazing!

What's your favorite LMC Core Value?

Help People. I love that LMC is focused as a company not only on our resident’s experience but also on giving back to the communities in which we live and work.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

I would love the ability to breathe under water. When I was little, I really wanted to be a mermaid when I grew up – since I haven’t grown a tail, this might be my next best option!

Tell us about your pet.

I have a stray black cat that I’ve adopted and named Thackery, inspired by Hocus Pocus. Thackery eats at my house and even has cat toys and a bed on my covered outdoor patio, but Thackery runs the neighborhood. Occasionally, Thackery comes inside, but not for extended periods or he gets restless.
